Whilst on a short Roadtrip to visit a few of Arizonas National Monuments (of which there are 18), I made an impromptu decision to stop and do a quick hike in Sedona!

It's almost impossible to just drive through Sedona and not want to stop somewhere and just take it all in. So I did not resist the urge to do just that. I decided to stop at Bell Rock. It was a shorter hike that I didn't manage to squeeze in during my last trip to Sedona - and let me just say: best decision I made that entire trip!

While the short loop I intended to take ended up including more of a "climb" - the views from the point I reached were well worth the effort of getting up there. Plus for those of you who know me; you know I love a good rock scramble and especially when the trail is not really a trail at all! The photo in the bottom right shows Bell Rock and once you arrive at the base of it - it's a free for all climb as high up as one would like to go! I went about halfway and that was me attempting to use some rock climbing finger grips I only ever saw used on TV!

Finger grips aside - I stopped asscending when the view got to perfect to resist. At one point I just sat down and enjoyed the moment. They call it the Bell Rock Vortex for a reason and as the photo below show - it definitely lives up to that title!
